Earth and Concrete Hallway

Last week Maria and I had planned a photo session at the dock near Boathouse at Sunday Park to show off her Mrs. Earth Virginia sash.  I honestly thought a title like Mrs. “Earth” would come with some divined privileges with Mother Nature.  Needless to say, a sudden severe thunderstorm threw a pretty big monkey wrench in our plan.  We needed Plan B ASAP!!

Luckily my “spidey sense” told me that the Brandermill Church across from the Boathouse has exterior walkways with overhanging roof we might able to use.

We made a short drive and a quick dash into the  dry heaven (seem appropriate since it was a church).  There was a large-ish space for us to work but we had to pick the backgrounds carefully to balance beauty vs. dryness — beautiful background + soaked Maria = No good.  After some quick test shots and quick thinking I think it worked out well.  I would have loved to have shot on the dock but as the old saying goes, when life gives you lemon, you make lemonade.

I would like to thank the Brandermill Church for (unknowingly) lending out their wonderfully dry walkway.  If you ever need a photographer, I will make it up to you!  And to my special guest assistant, Maria’s husband, for holding down the light stands.
