1.2.1 Gulf Event

“The Gulf is in dire need of help, it’s not our mess but it is our business.”

I had the pleasure of covering the 1.2.1 Gulf Event in Richmond on 8/11.  The event was held at the beautiful Glave Kocen Gallery in Richmond and simultaneously in Washington, DC at the Policy Restaurant — 1 night, 2 cities, 1 cause.  The purpose of the event was to create awareness and fundraise for the National Wildlife Federation.  The highlight of the evening for me was the slideshow of Phil Nesmith’s recent work;  Phil spent 4 weeks camping out on the gulf of Mexico amongst the clean up effort to capture stunning images using a technique most people, myself included, would not dare to attempt.  He has an upcoming exhibition of that work in Washington, DC on 9/11/2010.  Go check it out!

I would like to thank the organizer of the 1.2.1 Gulf Event for letting me be a part of the evening in Richmond.  I’ve met a lot of great people and happy to be able to contribute to a great cause.
